About the course
The Level 3 University Foundation Programme is a 60 credit qualification (equivalent to one A level) which helps students learn key concepts and a range of management procedures required to work within a business, it has been specifically developed to provide the knowledge required for students to work effectively, both as individuals and in teams within business. Being able to develop good business management skills is crucial for any company.
The Level 3 Diploma Business Management is made up of 6 modules and 6 written assignments, each module consists of approximately 40 guided learning hours. While completing the Diploma, students will have access to various study resources, such as tutor support and webinars, a social learning forum, and additional materials to help in the completion of their graduate business course.
Upon completion of this course, students receive a Qualifi Level 3 Business Management qualification which is fully regulated by Ofqual. Students will then have the opportunity to apply for admission onto a full Undergraduate Degree programme from a range of UK universities. Alternatively students can opt to study our Level 4/5 Extended Diploma in Management and then go on to complete a Undergraduate Top Up at a range of UK universities.

An introduction to marketing
Marketing is a key business function covering a wide range of activities and employing many people. This module develops the knowledge necessary to understand key concepts of the marketing mix, marketing planning and marketing research. As an introduction to marketing, it explains the strategic purpose of the marketing function and how it contributes to business success.
An introduction to the business environment
This module will explain different types of business and their ownership exist in an economy. Learners will understand role of owner and stakeholders to fulfil purpose of business. The module will help learners to understand how businesses are organised to achieve their targets. This module will also help to understand the way in which the economic, political, legal and social environment can impact on businesses giving the learner an understanding of the range of businesses.
Business communication
Effective communication is a key area in terms of its contribution to business success. When studying this module, learners will gain a thorough understanding of the types of business information used both internally and externally by organisations and the methods used to communicate information to different audiences. In this module, learners will have the opportunity to develop, analyse and evaluate a range of methods used to communicate different types of business information and will understand the purpose of such communication. They will also produce and evaluate different types of business communication of their own.
Business resources
The module will explain how a range of resources, including human, physical, technological and financial resources, are used and managed within business. This module will help the learner to have an understanding of how human resources are managed and of the employability and personal skills required of personnel in an organisation. Learners will gain an understanding of the purpose of managing resources effectively, not only in relation to human resources but also in terms of physical and technological resources.
Human resource management
This module will describe as the most valuable resource of any organisation, its human capital. All resources, especially the most valuable, need to be managed in order to obtain the greatest value from them. The module provides an overview of some of the key areas that fall within the remit of the human resources function. By the end of this module learners will gain an understanding of the factors that are taken into account by organisations when planning their human resource management. They will also learn how organisations gain employee motivation and employee commitment.
Recruitment and selection in business
This module is about how an organisation recruits and selects staff. Learners will gain knowledge and understanding of the process that a business has to go through when recruiting staff. Learners will prepare documents necessary to help select the right person for the job and plan to take part in a selection interview. They will have a broad understanding of the legislation surrounding recruitment and selection and be able to explain how these laws affect a business. As part of this, learners will consider the role of the Human Resource department. This will help them understand the vital role that the HR department plays in helping an organisation achieve its business objectives and will help them in the future when attending a job interview or participating in a selection panel.
University Entry Level 3 Programme Requirements
For entry on the Level 3 qualification learners would generally be aged 16 or above.
For learners who have recently been in education or training the entry profile is likely to include one of the following:
- 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above
- other related level 2 subjects
- other equivalent international qualifications
Learners must also have an appropriate standard of English to enable them to access relevant resources and complete the course modules and assignments.
Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include relevant work experience (paid and/or unpaid), participation and/or achievement of relevant qualifications.

The Level 3 Diploma in Business has 6 modules and 6 written assignments. On completion of the modules, students will be given access to the assignments. The assignments are approximately 5,000-8,000 words each. Students are provided support on the modules and assignments via the ‘Tutor’ section of the learning platform.
